Week of January 23-27

German Feast, 1:30pm in the cafeteria on Monday.

SCA speeches and elections on Wednesday.

3 hour early release on Wednesday.

Treasure Chest on Friday.

Wolfmart on Friday.

The 2nd marking period ends on Friday!

Reading-There is NO HRP assignment this week!  The new marking period HRP program will be assigned on Thursday.  In the mean time, students should be reading The Mistmantle Chronicles to the assigned page.  Reading responses will be written and students will meet in Literature Circles to discuss.   The biography of Thomas Edison will be assigned, for HRPs, on Thursday.  Students will have 2 weeks to complete this book.

Writing-Hobby Fair Personal Narrative will be evaluated and published copies started for next Tuesday's due date.  All writing should be done in class.

Word Study-A new list will be given on FRIDAY for next week.  There will not be a list for this week.

Science-We will learn about tides, The Gulf Stream and begin researching the zones of the ocean.  Students will be assigned one of three zones, choose a creature and produce a colorful, fact-filled circle about both.  This may end up needing to be completed at home if your child is unable to finish it within the allotted time.  The zone circle is due next week on Wednesday, February 1.

SS-Medieval Test is on Tuesday!

Math-Several students are still struggling with word problems that involve decimals. Mrs. Compton has retested students and will work with those in need of additional practice.  Geometry moves forward as well.
